News, updates, and changes in Composer R1 2023
Composer R1 2023, Version 1.5.8476.19774
Release date: 2023-03-17
- Added support for duplicating a scene layer (and the operators used by the layer).
- Added support for Blend Mode Straight (RgbStraight). This mode is useful when compositing a premultiplied RGBA image within a scene.
- Added support for playback of HEVC (h265) video clips.
- FaceDetector: added support for configuring the eye aspect ratio for face qualifier.
- Decklink Capture V3: added support for fallback to other Decklink cards. For example: if the project uses a Duo 2 capture card (channel 3), but that card does not exist, Composer can fall back to Quad 2 (channel 3).
- Added support for running automated tests (all platforms).
Desktop only:
- Preview Window: added labels for the current mouse position.
- Preview Window: added additional zoom levels: 125, 150, 175, 300, 600, and 800%.
- Improved application startup time. Removed the Drives tab from the System Information Window.
- Improved file dialogs: the initial directories will be determined from the last used directory (per file type).
- Support for Open Recent (projects)
- Added a stand-alone installer for FFmpeg 5: FFmpegInstaller.
- Added support for defining which project to load using the -p parameter.
Runtime version only:
- Added support for only logging errors to console (--consoleonlyerrors)
- Added support for requiring a valid license in order for application to start (--licenserequired)
Bugfixes
- When using multiple RTMP targets on a heavily loaded server, connect/reconnect could sometimes fail.
- Clearing alarms did not work as expected.
- The clear alarm button could sometimes be shown without any active alarm.
- If the application was launched using Powershell or other scripting tools, the license file could sometimes not be found.
- FaceDetector Operator could crash if the scene size were changed during runtime.
Other changes:
- The required minimum Cuda version has been upgraded to version 11.7.
- FFmpeg: upgraded to 5.1.
- FFmpeg has been moved to a separate installer, and FFmpeg files are no longer part of the installation.
- Linux: FFmpeg install location is configured in the .vindralcomposerruntime file.
- FFmpeg logging is now part of the regular log system of Composer.
- NET Core platform upgraded to NET6.0.
- Software prefix "Vindral" removed. The name of the software is now Composer (not Vindral Composer).
- NDI source using AutoReconnect will render an error if the NDI source cannot be found during project start
Important notice (Windows 11)
NOTE!
Some users have reported performance issues on Windows 11 - especially when the application is running in the background or in a locked state.
This issue can be mitigated by disabling Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling found under Settings/Diplay/Graphics/Default graphics settings
