Article summary

OpsGenie is a 3:rd party alert and incident response tool. Composer supports pushing application errors to OpsGenie.
OpsGenie can also forward alerts to other tools such as Slack and Atlassian Jira. It also supports SMS- and voice messages.
The following chapter describes how to integrate Composer with OpsGenie. Configuring OpsGenie itself is out-of-scope for this guide.

Read more about OpsGenie integration under Logging and Alarms.

OpsGenie integration settings:

  • Enable OpsGenie alerts - Enables the OpsGenie integration
  • Use Opsgenie for all Fatal Errors and Errors - This will trigger an OpsGenie alert for all Fatal Errors and Errors.
  • Use OpsGenie for Alarms - This will trigger an OpsGenie alert if Alarms is enabled and an Alarm is raised. See the Settings/Alarms tab. More info in the Settings documentation.
  • OpsGenie API key - API key for OpsGenie API call. The key can be found in OpsGenie and the Configured Integrations view (Default API). See Enabling Default API in the Configured Integrations below.
  • OpsGenie reminder interval - for recurring alarms, this setting defines how often a new alarm should be triggered in OpsGenie
  • OpsGenie Responder Team - responder team to which the alarm will be sent
  • OpsGenie API URL - api url. For Europe, this is (currently) https://api.eu.opsgenie.com/v2/alerts. For other regions of the world, the API URL might be different. Please find more information on the OpsGenie website or support.
  • Simulate Error: - By clicking the button “Generate Test Error”, Composer will send an “Error” to OpsGenie with the message: “This is a test error generated by a user. It is not an application error.”
Note!
If changes are made to the OpsGenie settings, the application needs to be restarted.
