# Performance Mode

The Performance Mode (Desktop Only) is a mode in Composer that hides all visible elements of the interface to reduce resource usage when you are not actively working on projects. Only performance statistics remain visible, giving you an overview of Composer’s current status.

### Adjusting the Inactivity Timeout

To control how long Composer waits before entering Performance Mode:

1. Open [Settings](/docs/settings-general)
2. Edit `Lock workstation after (sec)` to adjust how many seconds it should take before Composer locks in Performance Mode

### Manual Activation:

You can also switch to Performance Mode at any time:

1. Open the `Misc` menu in Composer.
2. Select `Lock Application` to activate Performance Mode.

Tip

Use the keyboard shortcut **ALT+M**, release the keys, and then press **L** to lock Composer and activate **Performance Mode** directly.

### Additional Performance Tips

Performance Mode helps reduce resource usage, but there are other ways to improve Composer’s performance as well. For detailed guidance on tuning your system, optimizing hardware, and configuring settings for maximum efficiency:
