The Automatic Gain Control operator automatically adjusts the brightness (luminance) of your video stream to maintain a consistent level. It helps ensure that the video remains balanced, even when lighting conditions change during streaming.
It is particularly useful in environments with varying light, as it eliminates the need for manual brightness adjustments, providing a stable and uniform video output throughout the stream.
Sensor Area
The Sensor Area settings let you choose which part of the image will be used to adjust the brightness (luminance) for automatic gain control. You can either use the whole image or pick a specific area by cropping the image.
If you uncheck Use Full Image, you can crop the image. Even though you crop the image, the brightness adjustment will still apply to the entire image. The cropped area is just used to calculate the brightness value, which is then used to adjust the brightness of the whole image.
- Use Full Image: When this option is checked, the entire image is used to calculate the brightness for automatic gain control.
- Crop Left: Crops the image from the left side.
- Crop Right: Crops the image from the right side.
- Crop Top: Crops the image from the top.
- Crop Bottom: Crops the image from the bottom.
- Show Crop Area: Shows a visual representation of the cropped area.
Sensor
The Sensor section provides real-time information about the image’s luminance and allows you to enable Luminance Autocorrect for automatic gain adjustments when significant changes are detected.
- Measured Luminance (avg):
Displays the average luminance (brightness) of the image based on the selected sensor area. - Luminance Change (%):
Displays the percentage change in the image’s luminance since the last measurement. - Luminance Changed:
A read-only checkbox that becomes automatically checked when a significant luminance change is detected. - Luminance Autocorrect:
Allows you to enable automatic image gain adjustments when a luminance change is detected.
Luminance Storage
The Luminance Storage section allows you to store a luminance value based on the current Sensor Area settings. The stored value will be used for auto-gain adjustment.
- Store Luminance:
Stores the calculated luminance (in %) based on the current Sensor Area settings. - Stored Luminance (%):
Displays the stored luminance value used for automatic gain control.
Performance and Properties
The Performance and Properties section provides additional details about the image processing, including the number of pixels used for luminance calculations and the total luminance sum.
Pixel Count – Displays the total number of pixels in the selected sensor area.
Luminance Sum – Shows the sum of all luminance values from the selected sensor area.
